We had lots of fun heading down to the beach for our 1st annual sandcastle building competition :) Some children decided to work alone, while others worked in teams, but everyone tried really hard and came up with some super designs. And the winners are...The boys worked really hard to create this massive castle fort (complete with roads and guard dragons). It filled the whole playroom and looked amazing, well done guys! We decided to take our lunch down to the park and spend some time burning off steam.
We went for a walk and collected some juicy, ripe blackberries - they were yummy. We looked through some cook books to decide what to make with them.
This week we worked hard to build our new chicken coop and run, although the children thought it was their new playhouse. On Thursday we took a trip to Durham Hens to pick out our new girls, they have been named Hedwig, Nutmeg and Pegleg (Peggy) and are starting to settle in great. We are eagerly awaiting our first eggs and making friends with the new girls.
We had great fun creating some exciting dens in the playroom that we decided to try an even bigger challenge... But first a quick stop off for lunch. Together we found sticks and branches and started to build our den. We all joined in, even the littlest one. Our finished den looked great, we were all very proud of it. On the way back we enjoyed a spot of bug hunting, we found lots of spiders, flies and snails in the bushes.
Our jewellery making day was great fun. We decorate our own trinket boxes and then made some gorgeous bead bracelets.
